Feeding Our Community
Carver Center continues to meet a growing need for food access in our community through the Carver Market and Dinner at Noon program. What began as a supplemental resource has become essential for families facing difficult financial choices between basic needs. Today, with expanded hours, self-choice shopping, and weekly community meals, these programs provide consistent access to food and connection for those who need it most.

Carver Market

The Carver Market has served as a much-needed supplemental food source for families to survive between paychecks or when SNAP benefits don’t stretch enough to cover their grocery-buying needs. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Starting in March 2020, we went from serving approximately 350 households per month to approximately 1,500 households per month. Many of our clients faced tough choices between paying their rent and buying groceries. The Carver Market was no longer a supplemental resource – it was lifeline for parents who were out of work and children who were learning from home with no access to afterschool meals.

We brought our Carver Market operations back indoors in February, and returned to self -choice shopping. We expanded our hours to meet the growing needs of working families. We had 10,771 family visits to the Carver Market from July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022.

Dinner at Noon

Our popular Saturday Dinner @ Noon community meal program has resumed programming from 11:00am – 1:00pm. The program is supported each week by one of five local faith-based congregations who volunteer their time on their designated Saturday. Approximately 40 people join us each week.
